Demonstration Cooking Kitchen Reservations

A group should request the Demonstration Cooking Kitchen two weeks (minimum) in advance of an event so usage can be coordinated with food purveyors and supervisory staff schedules.

Reservation Process:

1. Group reserves the Demonstration Cooking Kitchen through Recreational Sports facility scheduling.  Reservations can be made online. When the reserving group receives its space confirmation, they will have the option of contacting University Catering for assistance with obtaining food and/or a chef to provide a cooking demonstration, or arranging for supervision of the event in the Demonstration Cooking Kitchen by University Catering.  Beginning Autumn quarter 2009 specially trained Department of Recreational Sports student staff will provide this supervision (contact information will be provided on the confirmation form).   The space cannot be used without supervision provided by University Catering or (beginning Autumn Quarter) by trained Recreational Sports staff; charges will apply for supervision.
2. If the group opts for the assistance of University Catering, the group will meet with a representative of Catering to determine whether or not they need assistance obtaining food, if they would like a chef to provide a demonstration or both.  Charges will apply if Catering obtains the food and/or provides a cooking demonstration.  Charges for personnel will apply for supervision of the space even if food is not obtained or a demo is not conducted by University Catering.
3. If the reserving group prefers to purchase their own food and do the cooking themselves, they will meet with a member of the facility operations staff to confirm arrangements, including supervision of their usage of the Demo Kitchen.  The fee for the supervision will be $15 per hour (hourly rate applies to set-up, event and clean-up time for the event).
4. The reserving group can pay for the food, technical assistance/demonstration, or supervision by 100W or a check made payable to Ohio State University.  Payment is due at the time of the demonstration.  Instructions on payment of rental fees, if applicable, will accompany the facility confirmation the reserving group receives from Recreational Sports.
