Jesse Owens West Tennis Center (JOWTC)
This fully-accessible west campus satellite facility is the only place on campus to play indoor tennis. Four tennis courts are available for use. Guest passes are available for this and all Rec Sports facilities. BuckID or credit card are the only methods of payment accepted at this location.
May Term, Summer Session, and Summer Break Hours (May 5 - August 17)
Monday - Friday: 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sunday: Noon - 10 p.m.

Thursday, July 4: CLOSED
Saturday: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Want to reserve a court?
Members are encouraged to make a reservation to ensure court space is available. Court space can be reserved beginning at 5:30 p.m. the day before in person or by phone at (614) 292-0699. Reservation times are at the top of each hour. Singles play may reserve 1 hour, and doubles may reserve 2 hours at a time.
If you would like to reserve a court at the same time each week throughout the semester, please refer to JOWTC Reservation Draw Contract and Policies. Once second opportunities have ended, all remaining court times are available for reservation beginning at 5:30 p.m. the day before.
If a court reservation cannot be used, you may cancel the reservation without penalty up until 2 hours prior to the start of the reservation. Cancellations may be emailed to email@example.com or call (614) 292-0699.
Looking for a tennis partner?
A sign-up sheet, located on the bulletin board outside the JOWTC office, is available for members to post names, emails, preferred days, and skill levels to help find a partner.
Faculty and staff have a doubles program wherein pairings are made for late afternoon play. Persons interested in participating next semester contact Professor Bruce Weide.
Looking for extra practice? The tennis tower is available for check out Monday through Friday until 4 p.m. Please note that two courts side by side are required for the tennis tower to be used. When making a reservation, please indicate if you would like to use the tennis tower to ensure it is available during that time.
The tennis tower is a ball machine that comes with a hopper of approximately 75 tennis balls. It throws all shots from groundstrokes to lobs at variable speeds, and also has a built in random oscillator if desired. Spin is adjustable from heavy underspin, to flat, to heavy topspin.
