1. Who can use the climbing center? The climbing center is open to any Ohio State student taking 4 or more credit hours and all recreational sports members. Guests are also permitted, provided a member accompanies them.
2. Does it cost anything? Use of the climbing center is free to students and members. Guests must pay $10 a day.
3. What kind of equipment do I need? The climbing center provides climbing shoes and a harness at no charge; however, if you have your own equipment, you are permitted to use it after an examination by the climbing center staff. Climbers are NOT permitted to use their own belay device.
4. Is there any training or skills required to climb? No prior training is required to climb. Climbing center employees are available to belay.
5. Can I belay other climbers? Participants with belay experience may only belay another climber if they are OAC belay certified. The certification test is $5. The OAC also provides classes to learn how to belay; these cost $15, which includes the cost of certification.
