FedEx Ground Skills Challenge Winners
Students Represent Home Nations in FedEx Ground World Cup
From October 9 - 15, teams such as South Africa, Portugal, Egypt, and Canada, took over the Adventure Recreation Center to showcase their talent, and compete to be the FedEx Ground World Cup Soccer Tournament Championship.
Kicking off the week, the Intramural Sports Program hosted the FedEx Ground World Cup Skills Challenge. This event, in conjunction with GlobalFest, allowed soccer fans to showcase their talents, and compete to be the best place kickers and jugglers. Students also participated in a shootout competition, radar shot, and skills course.
Twenty-four teams competed in the five day tournament. Sixteen moved on to the playoffs, and one winner was declared. Team Egypt, who entered the tournament seeded in the number two spot, was able to win four games to become the tournament champion.
