Martial Arts Demo Night Packs House

Rec Sports Martial Arts Sport Clubs recently presented a demonstration night to show off the many diverse clubs devoted to practicing martial arts at Ohio State. The Martial Arts Demo Night attracted over 200 Ohio State student spectators with nearly 60 students participating in the event.

The Demo Night, held in the South Gym of the Recreational and Physical Activity Center (RPAC), brought in a variety of students interested in variations of martial arts offered by Ohio State Rec Sports.  The participating sport clubs were: Ju Jutsu, Kendo, Shotokan Karate, Taekwondo, Akido Yoshokai, ARMA, Buckeye Tang Soo Do, Dragon Phoenix Wushu, Filipino Martial Arts, Judo, K1 Kickboxing and Krav Maga. The demonstrations represented a diverse range of the international martial arts community, and gave participants a chance to illustrate their similarities and differences.

The martial arts night gave the Ohio State community a sneak peek into the area of self-defense techniques.  Several clubs also held clinics and information sessions for interested spectators.

Ohio State Department of Recreational Sports is proud to exhibit student talent through its guiding mission: to engage the university community in physical and wellness activities by offering the finest programs, services, staff and facilities. The Martial Arts sport clubs work hard, build character, offer self-defense clinics and provide an opportunity to get involved.  Visit http://www.recsports.osu.edu/competitive-sports/sport-clubs/our-clubs for a comprehensive list of Ohio State sport clubs.
